Our Story
28 Years in the Making
Founded in 1997 by Coach Roland Noel, VIP United FC has grown from a local off-season program into one of the region's most respected developmental soccer clubs.
The Club
Where It All Started
VIP United FC was formed in 1997 by Roland Noel, a local high school coach who saw a clear need: players needed a place to compete and develop during the off season, in the fall. What started as a solution to a scheduling gap became something far greater — a club built on family, community, and a genuine love for the game.
In 2001, a team of 8 and 9 year olds — the VIP United FC Cougars — was formed. That group played together for 10 years and eventually became a top-10 team in the State of Virginia. Their journey set the standard for everything that followed. Since then, VIP United FC has developed many competitive travel teams and now fields multiple teams across all age groups.
Our teams compete in TASL (Tidewater Advanced Soccer League) and NPL (National Premier League). We also offer a state-sponsored developmental program for children ages 3 through 15, focused on skill-building and fun. In 2019, our Recreational Director Vicki Signorelli was awarded Coach of the Year by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA).
VIP United FC is a non-profit organization. Coach Noel's mission statement from 28 years ago still guides everything we do: Family, Fun, and Fundamentals.
Our Values
Family. Fun. Fundamentals.
Family
We pride ourselves on a warm, welcoming environment where players, coaches, and families feel like they belong. Our players and teams cheer for one another — on and off the field.
Fun
Soccer should be joyful. From our youngest 3-year-olds in the developmental program to our elite travel teams, we make sure the love of the game stays at the center of everything.
Fundamentals
Technical development is the foundation of our club. We build players from the ground up — with the skills, habits, and mindset to compete at every level.
Non-Profit Mission
As a non-profit organization, our decisions are always guided by what's best for our players and community — not the bottom line.
Development Philosophy
How We Develop Players
Technical Foundation First
Before tactics, before fitness, before anything else — we build technical quality. Ball mastery, passing, receiving, and 1v1 ability are the foundation of everything we do.
Tactical Intelligence
As players grow, we layer in tactical understanding — positional play, pressing, transitions, and game reading. We want players who think the game, not just react to it.
Mental Toughness
Resilience, focus, and confidence are trained, not born. We create environments where players learn to compete under pressure and bounce back from setbacks.
